Our Story
Galloway Farm began in 1944, when our family bought its first tract of farmland in Hallsboro, North Carolina. More than 80 years later, it is still a family-owned working farm, run today by the fourth and fifth generations.
From Tobacco Fields to Maze Craze
Galloway Farm started as a tobacco farm. Over the decades the family moved to livestock and grain, and today the farm raises beef cattle alongside field corn, soybeans, wheat and hay.

Maze Craze began with a birthday party. When Jason and Alma Galloway hosted their son's fifth birthday on the farm, the guests stayed all day riding wagons and exploring the fields. It showed the family how much people wanted to experience a real working farm.

In 2011 we opened the farm to the public with school field trips, a few kids' games, a small maze and a hayride. Today Maze Craze is one of the largest corn mazes in eastern North Carolina, and thousands of students visit each year to learn where their food comes from. Come see us in Hallsboro. Meet the Galloways
Galloway Farm is run by Jason and Alma Galloway and their son, Walker. The land has been in Jason's family since 1944 and passed to the fourth generation in the early 2000s.

Alma, known to many visitors as Farmer Alma, left a career in accounting to build the farm's education and agritourism programs. Her goal is to show people the value of family farms and teach them where their food comes from.

A Working Cattle Farm, Year-Round
Maze Craze runs each fall, but Galloway Farm works all year. Beef cattle are the heart of the farm today, with a herd of more than 200 head raised for grass-fed, grain-finished beef.

The family also grows field corn for feed, along with soybeans, wheat and hay. Every Maze Craze ticket helps support a working family farm in Columbus County.

Each season the maze is cut into a brand-new design, often in partnership with a local business or brand. A few past designs:
